The Glacier Express in Switzerland is the slowest train?

Its name sounds speedy, but the Glacier Express is nicknamed the “world’s slowest express train.” And that’s the point. Crawling at an average of 24 miles per hour, it takes eight hours to travel between Zermatt and St. Moritz.

Why so slow? To give travelers time to soak up the jaw-dropping Alpine scenery — think snowy peaks, deep valleys, and postcard-perfect villages. Sometimes slow travel is the richest kind.
